Flap jacks have a rightful place in every American’s diet, regardless of nutritional preferences. This is why I went on a quest to discover a LOW CARB, high protein, nutritious pancake alternative! It could very well be contributed to being 37 weeks pregnant, and craving cray-cray carbs…so I must come up with recipes that satisfy the craving without compromising optimal nutrition. I guess “Friendsgiving” has been a thing for a while now. This year we finally decided to jump on the bandwagon. I mean what’s better than a second Thanksgiving dinner, friends, and games? As you will notice, we happened to pull this off two weeks before Christmas – (AFTER TURKEY DAY) but there’s no rules, right? TIP #1: NO RULES.  Do whatever is comfortable and do what is “you”! Happy Friday to you! Or whatever day of the week I’m finding you… Nothing says summer like Lemonade, nothing says summer F U N quite like Limeade. Today , Cassidy and I bring to you a simple recipe for you and yours to enjoy for the rest of your summer days. It’s simple, sweet, and a real crowd pleaser.   Drumroll please… Ingredients: 4-5 Limes (1C squeezed) 1-3t stevia powder Water/Ice cubes Herbs for garnish Directions: Add juice to 1 Quart water, stir in 1t stevia, add another teaspoon if you prefer. When your little sister takes her first trip overseas & comes back itching to prepare a traditional meal she experienced…for us. Let’s just say we were not mad. Cassidy, 17 years old, had the chance of a lifetime to visit Haiti this summer with her dear friends originally from Haiti. I remember how impactful my first time out of the country was. Especially in an underdeveloped country – however, despite going without conveniences that I totally took for granted I relished in the experience and welcome future opportunities. Cassidy recounted witnessing a drastic change of pace, little electricity in many homes, and taking showers from a 5 gallon bucket. Living grain-free forces creativity. Apart from the incredible health advantages I’ve experienced, the intentional creativity is an added bonus. Enter the W R A P conundrum… Chipotle burritos, wheat wraps, pita bread, pita pockets, pita chips, flour tortillas, each one conveniently hold lots of deliciousness together making each bite an explosion of  D E L I S H. (Insert superhero cabbage here.) A sturdy, slightly bitter yet sweet green or purple biennial plant bursting with vitamin C & K. Also a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6 & folate. What’s better than chili on a cold Fall or Winter day? This year I went searching for a chili recipe without beans & sugar. Chili often has hidden sugar in tomato sauce or added to balance spice. I have been aware as of late to avoid for the most part FODMAPS, or foods that easily cause inflammation. Beans are one of the offenders (in some people).   Currently there is large quantities of Sweet Potato Chili in our freezer to have healthy quick lunch options prepared. Just a warning…these fat bombs, are like, THE BOMB. You will be happy to know that eating them…will not make you fat. If you have not caught on yet, good fats are necessary – yes – crucial! Not only for losing weight but putting the “satiety brake” naturally when you eat.   Have you ever felt totally out of control when you start to eat. It’s like anything edible is going down the hatch, and anything “un-edible” is up for debate. Watch out Spot… okay sorry, too far. “Satiety” is natures way of telling your body, “It’s okay to stop eating now.” You feel naturally satisfied and can stop eating.   Good fat, when eaten in proportion to protein and carbs does this excellently!
